This video addresses a common issue concerning the removal method of Baybella Magnetic Lashes. Below are some key factors which have taken the video from a mere product demonstration to a highly engaging and creative ad.
The first hook can be found in the opening of the video, a text box displaying a viewer comment:
does it rip off your natural lashes?
One of the main draws of this brand are how gentle their lashes are compared to other lash enhancement products (eg. strip lashes, eyelash extensions, lash lifts). Capitalizing on this, the video replies specifically to a customer with concerns around eyelash damage, allowing me to position the ad around one of the product's strongest traits.
Combining several other details; an attention-grabbing title, visually appealing presentation, concise delivery, and accompanying captions, I crafted a highly effective advertisement that demonstrated a significant return on ad spend (ROAS).

Why Did this do so well?
Notice the three elements that occur simultaneously in the opening:
These all work together cohesively to create an extremely effective hook, provoking curiosity and interest in the viewer. Customers are compelled to question what’s being presented to them; What is he talking about? What has got to be fake? What is that contraption that girl just put on her lashes?
The video goes on to showcase the application process in simple, easy-to-follow steps, making it accessible for both beginners and seasoned strip lash users. By incorporating a blend of A and B-roll footage, including close-ups of the lashes, the viewer remains visually captivated from start to finish.
Overall, the video presents a solution to a major problem for many lash users: the struggle to apply conventional strip lashes in a timely manner (if even at all). This alternative ensures ease of use and guarantees to be a major time saver.

Why did this do so well?
This video tapped into a popular trend where people were stitching the first video to share unique life hacks that hadn't yet reached mainstream audiences.
Using this trend to promote Baybella was strategic; given its relative obscurity in the beauty market, utilizing this video format was a fun and cheeky way to market the product as an underrated gem. Employing reverse psychology, I described the product as challenging to use and contrasted it with footage of effortless application.
The negative comments were intentional, touching on real issues lash users face with traditional strip lashes. The video presented our product as a fun and effective solution to these problems, making it engaging and relatable.

WHy did this do so well?
Unfortunately, men wearing makeup remains controversial in most mainstream spaces. On social media, male beauty creators tend to regularly receive a volume of negative interactions, mostly from other men (just have a look through my IG comments!)
This contrast is particularly striking when the man wearing makeup identifies as heterosexual, given the longstanding association between men, makeup, and queerness over the past few decades.
I took this idea and translated into a video concept whereby a boyfriend has bought some magnetic lashes for his girlfriend for Valentine’s Day and wants to try them himself first.
This premise inherently captivates the audience, compelling them to watch the entire video out of curiosity to see if the man will indeed pull off false eyelashes better than his supposed 'girlfriend'.
The video ultimately sells the idea to the viewer (majority women) that if a straight man can put these magnetic lashes on that easily - then how hard could it possibly be for them?

Why Did this do so well?
One of the key marketing principles that guides my content ideas is demonstrating how a product can seamlessly fits into a customers daily life.
The inevitable hassle of taking off all your makeup at the end of the day is a common struggle; and amongst the most tedious is the removal of false lashes or mascara.
This has left many longing for a convenient solution, so in this ad I present the product as a potential answer to this problem by addressing a user query:
Can you sleep with them on like false lashes?
Presenting two solutions—highlighting the durability of the magnetic lashes for those who prefer to sleep with them on, coupled with the ease of removal and reapplication—showcases the versatility of the product. This approach not only alleviates user concerns but also highlights the convenience and user-friendliness of the lashes.
Furthermore, emphasising that this unique selling point is exclusive to this product elevates its perceived value, making it a more attractive option for potential customers. This ad effectively highlights the product's benefits, positioning it as a must-have for anyone seeking both convenience and quality in their beauty routine.

Why did this do so well?
This video directly addresses another major concern for lash users. Typically lash extensions can last anywhere between 2-4 weeks, and strip lashes anywhere from 1-2 weeks.
For many, this upkeep can be both costly and time-consuming. This video touches on points of sustainability and convenience. By nature, this product will last significantly longer, and the application/removal process is also much quicker.
In short, this ad delivers this unique product feature to viewers in a visually appealing and efficient way, demonstrating expertise in producing UGC content with a clear emphasis on the product's key benefits.

This video capitalised on a popular trend at the time where beauty creators were using this sound to show their full-face makeup routine in an extremely efficient way.
I took that idea and translated it into showing the application process of this product to highlight the extreme ease of use.
This again solves a major problem for many lash users who are tired of having to take so long to apply and remove their false lashes by providing a faster and easier-to-use product.

WHy did this do so well?
I've found that stitches consistently make great hooks, instantly grabbing the attention of the audience and sparking curiosity about who will appear next and what they will say.
By stitching a person who has experienced a terrible allergic reaction from lash glue, it targets a sizeable demographic of beauty lovers who are sensitive or allergic to lash glue, and therefore avoid wearing false lashes regularly (or even at all).
The contrast between someone experiencing a severe allergic reaction and my smooth, irritation-free application of the magnetic lashes effectively highlights the product's safety for those with sensitive eyes. By sharing that I also have sensitive eyes, I also build a sense of relatability and rapport with the audience.
I present the product as the perfect solution for individuals with sensitive eyes or lash glue allergies, allowing them to wear false lashes daily without worrying about irritation or harm.

Why Did this do well?
To address a common concern among viewers regarding the durability of magnetic lashes, I used a proven content approach commonly used in the cosmetics industry - an all-day wear test. Throughout this video, I aimed to remove any doubts by showcasing the resilience of these lashes despite their effortless application and removal.
It’s important to note that this was not an ordinary all-day wear test. The video commenced with a deliberate response to a negative comment, effectively challenging its validity and setting the stage for a compelling narrative.
This strategic approach served as an incentive for viewers to remain engaged, eagerly anticipating the outcome and whether I would successfully debunk the commenter's claim.

WHY WORK WITH ME
The current UGC creator landscape is saturated and highly competitive. The natural decision for most would be to broaden their horizons and create in as many different niches and styles possible, but I’ve found that honing in and becoming a specialist in a select few areas of content creation as opposed to being a jack of all trades has allowed me to stand out the most. One of these areas include making effective winning ads within the beauty niche that can generate considerable profit. And I have the receipts to prove it.
I’ve grown my social media marketing skillset over the course of 4 years. Beginning my journey in 2020, I transitioned to specializing in creating high-quality conversion ad content in 2022. Effective ad content doesn't necessarily require complexity or high production value (it doesn’t even need a CTA anymore). Its primary goal is simple: can the video emotionally connect with customers enough to compel them to buy, whilst keeping them entertained? However, it’s important to note that these agencies often retain the majority of the profits and compensate their creators fairly inadequately. So it’s worth asking yourself whether a creator who is being paid $100 or less to produce a video, would be as motivated and capable of understanding your brand/products/customer pain points & delivering content to the calibre that I can.
